This diptych is of a long married couple.  Secrets and mystery still exist.   The two are done is a slightly different palette:  his is more yellow than hers.  The translucent and bright quality was achieved by using a yellow ocher imprimatura over which a burnt sienna underpainting was rubbed in. This piece was recently shown at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. 

I completed the female figure first and entered her into the juried West Michigan Art Show at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art, Kalamazoo Michigan.  It received the Signature Artist award at that show.
